Lady Pippa Blake

Lady Pippa
Blake is a founding trustee of the Sir Peter Blake Trust; formed
with her full support, the Trust is a legacy to Peter’s immense and
unique qualities as a yachtsman, environmentalist, educator and
motivator. The Trust’s role is to encourage young people to make a
positive difference for the planet, through activities that
encourage environmental awareness and action, and leadership
development.
Pippa’s career
has interwoven sailing, the environment and art. She studied Fine
Art at Camberwell School of Art in London gaining a First Class BA
Honours degree in Painting, before going on to work for the Arts
Council of Great Britain and as an assistant to a Museum Designer
based in Chelsea, London. She met Peter in 1978, married in 1979
and embarked on a three month adventure to Sydney to deliver the
yacht Condor of Bermuda for the Sydney Hobart race 1979. They then
moved on to New Zealand where Pippa worked in the organisation and
liaison for Ceramco NZ and many subsequent races and
expeditions.
In 1993 Pippa resumed her
painting career and has since held several solo exhibitions in the
UK and Auckland and exhibited widely in group shows mainly in
Sussex, Hampshire and London. Pippa’s talent has attracted
attention and praise. She was an inaugural award recipient and
participant in The Flux Project, a residential artists' programme
with an innovative on-line web portal. She also
participated in the National Oceanography Centre
of Southampton’s "Ocean’s Project" where artists are matched with
marine scientists during an oceanographic voyage.
Thanks to Pippa’s
support, The Green Blue was able to learn from the Sir Peter Blake
Trust and continues to draw on this programme for best practice and
inspiration.
