Setting Up a Recycling Scheme

Follow our best practice advice to help your club set up a successful recycling scheme

Read The Green Blue's factsheet on setting up a recycling scheme
Look at your waste contract and see what you are paying for
Carry out a waste analysis to see what waste your club/training centre produces
Identify which waste streams you’d like to recycle
Look at various contractors in your area, organise site meetings, discuss which waste can be recycled, costs, lift. And haggle!
Identify the location of recycling and landfill bins
Design good signage
Train staff/volunteers and notify users of the new scheme. Explain the reasons and identify how much you hope to save and what the saved money will be spent on
Monitor. Take a peek inside your bins and ask the contractor for feedback on contamination
