Green Grants Available for RYA Clubs

Does your club want to
make environmental improvements but doesn’t have the budget to do
so? If so then take a look at the Green Blue’s new Green Grants
Scheme and your club could get an award.
We know that there are
quick wins that can be made by sailing and yacht clubs that can
save both energy and money, but very often going green can seem a
bit overwhelming. Therefore we’ve introduced these grants to help
with taking those important first steps
We want to encourage
clubs to make small changes to reduce their impact on the
environment and save money at the same time. Perhaps you’d like to
install low energy light bulbs, hippo bags in the loos, trigger
nozzles on water hoses or set up bird boxes to encourage local
wildlife, or perhaps there’s an event that could be greener or
you’d like to do more recycling.
Your project should
be the start or part of the Club’s wider commitment to
sustainability and underpinned by an environmental policy
which has been adopted by the club. Check out our guide to
writing an environmental policy' and 'sample environmental
policy' for help with this.
If you’d like your club
to get started on sustainability with a grant from The Green Blue
then simply fill out the application form and return, together
with the club's environmental policy, to info@thegreenblue.org.uk
There’s no closing date for the scheme but we do only have a
limited pot of money so be sure to get your application in sooner
rather than later.
If you're still unsure on how to get started then why not take a
look at our case studies for ideas or
call any member of The Green Blue team for help. Our website offers
a section designed specifically for clubs
and training centres so follow the link to see a wide range of
information and resources available to you free of charge.
