Two Environmental Funds Available for RYA Clubs

Clubs and Training Centres

We know, you wait for ages and then two come along at once but this time it really is good news. If your club wants to make environmental improvements but doesn’t have the budget to do so, then there are two grants schemes currently on offer.

The Green Blue’s Grant scheme is aimed at helping clubs with some quick environmental wins that could save energy and money. With grants of up to £500 available, clubs could look at anything from installing low energy light bulbs and placing hippo bags in the loos, to greening an event or encouraging more recycling. Just download an application form, complete and email or post it to The Green Blue. There’s no deadline for applications but the pot of money is limited so be sure to get your application in sooner rather than later.

If your club has a slightly more ambitious project in mind then take a look at the Volvo Eco Challenge. For 2010 the prizes will be £5,000 for the best overall project, 9 prizes of £1,000 and additional funds for highly commended projects. There are four main categories:  Energy saving & resource efficiency, Waste & recycling, Wildlife & biodiversity and Green Events. Your entry must be in by Midnight 1st October 2010.
