Help at Hand to Make Sense of CRC

The CRC Energy Efficiency
Scheme (formally known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) has been
on the horizon since last summer, and from April this year
businesses that use a half hourly electricity meter have been
obliged to notify the Environment Agency of how much energy they
consumed in 2008.
The CRC is a mandatory
energy efficiency scheme, aimed at improving energy efficiency and
cutting emissions in large public and private sector organisations,
but even small companies may have to declare their energy
consumption if they have a half hourly meter.
Businesses should have received a
letter from the Environment Agency in November 2009 informing them
of what to do however we understand that many organisations are
still to register before the deadline of 30 September.
It can sometimes be difficult to
tell if your business has a half hourly meter as it is not always
shown on the electricity bill or the meter itself. And as the
Environment Agency has the power to fine organisations which do not
declare their energy usage, it is important to get it right.
Help is at hand however, The Green
Blue can assist you in finding out what sort of meter you have, can
advise you on what the CRC means for your business and can even
ascertain how much energy your organisation uses. All you have to
do is find a copy of your electricity bill and give us a ring.
