A Busy Summer of Events

The summer is well and
truly here and The Green Blue team is busy planning for the
season's events. The August Bank Holiday weekend sees us exhibiting
at the
Inland Waterways Association Festival at Beale Park on the
Thames, where we will be raising awareness of environmental issues
amongst inland waterways users and running activities for young
boaters.
The PSP
Southampton Boat Show begins on Friday 10 September; as well as
showing off ‘Calypso’ (our
Contessa 32 project with boat builder Jermey Rogers) in
the Marina, The Green Blue will be celebrating its 5th Birthday
with a drinks reception on the RYA stand. Sustainable
Facilities Officer, Dan Reading, will be running a breakfast
briefing for marine businesses that need to register under the
CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, and
we will be recognising the achievements of several marine
businesses that have completed the online self-assessment
tool, marine toolkit, by
awarding certificates at a celebratory lunch. These businesses
will have identified steps to develop and deliver an
environmental policy, adopt environmental best practice and monitor
progress and regularly review their environmental
performance. For more information on these events please

Thanks to the
support of GTG Training, Scottish Natural Heritage and The Crown
Estate, planning is underway for our Scottish conference to be
held at the GTG Conference Centre, Glasgow on 9 October. The
day will focus on showing clubs, training centres, marinas and
harbour authorities how they can save money and reduce their impact
on the environment. If you would like more information about this
or any of our other activities in Scotland, Wales and N Ireland
please contact sarah.brown@thegreenblue.org.uk
