Henri Lloyd Expand Blue Eco Range
It’s been over two years since Henri Lloyd
teamed up with The Green Blue as part of a long-term strategy to
become more environmentally sustainable. In that time The Green
Blue has delivered awareness training to Henri Lloyd staff on
sustainable boating, advised on resource efficiency measures within
their HQ operations and encouraged boaters to take a look at Henri
Lloyd’s recycled and recyclable Blue Eco technical clothing
range.
It was the launch of this Blue Eco
collection In 2010 that saw Henri Lloyd become the first
international marine clothing company to engage in an infinite
recycling programme. And in turn this marked the start of what
Henri Lloyd considered to be an important journey to reduce the
environmental impact of their operations and act as a catalyst for
others in the industry to follow suit.
Since the original launch Henri
Lloyd have built upon its expertise and produced a wider choice of
performance sailing wear using the same ‘infinite loop’
system including the Blue Eco Bomber Jacket, Fleece
Jacket, Fleece Hat, Fleece Scarf, Neck Gaiter and Fleece
Gloves.
The Blue Eco products are all
manufactured using highly functional TP Eco recycled polyester
fabric developed by Teijin – a Japanese company specialising in
developing environmentally friendly products and services. Using
ECO CIRCLE™ (Teijin’s revolutionary recycling system) Henri Lloyd
were able to produce the first ever entirely sustainable sailing
wear through its own Blue Eco ‘infinite-loop’ recycling system.
The ‘infinite-loop’ system means
that customers can return worn-out Blue Eco products to Henri Lloyd
for recycling through Teijin’s revolutionary fibre-to-fibre
recycling facility. The recycled raw material is then broken down
into new, highly durable polyester fibres and engineered into
recycled fabric that is used for the manufacture of new technical
clothing. This process brings new life to precious resources many
times over.
