The Green Blue Speaks at Inland Marina Managers Forum

Alvechurch MarinaFor the first time, The Green Blue joined the TYHA Inland Marinas Managers Forum held at ABC Leisure Group’s Alvechurch Marina in Worcestershire on Wednesday 14th September.

Over 50 inland marinas were represented by Inland Marina Managers from across the UK.  High on the agenda were a range of burning issues currently facing the sector (continuous cruising, congestion and water shortages to name a few) as well as a welcome opportunity to exchange ideas and network.

Dan Reading, The Green Blue’s Sustainability Officer spoke about benefits of the Marine Toolkit and ways to adopt environmental best practice and in turn cut costs through simple steps such as waste management and monitoring energy usage.

Jane Swan, Project Manager commented “The forum has given us a real insight into the key issues affecting the Inland Marina sector and the main concerns of its stakeholders. This knowledge will allow us to make the right approach at the right time to encourage inland marinas to use the marine toolkit and go on to make environmental improvements.”

Derek Newton, Managing Director of British Waterways Marinas Ltd supported this approach and commented “The Green Blue recently carried out an environmental audit at Sawley Marina and I would recommend it to everybody - it was free, educational and was a real money saver.”.
