Welcome to the summer edition of the new look e-news from The Green Blue. Since the launch of our new website on 11 May, we have been busy working behind the scenes updating our communications, and have even jumped feet first into the world of Social Networking Media. So why not take a look and see what's new or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Once in a blue moon, an opportunity comes along that provides such a perfect fit with The Green Blue’s mission that it seems too good to be true. On this occasion she’s called Calypso and she started as a germ of an idea by the Rogers family to create a greener version of the iconic Contessa 32.

We know, you wait for ages and then two come along at once but this time it really is good news. If your club wants to make environmental improvements but doesn’t have the budget to do so, then there are two grants schemes currently on offer.

The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formally known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) has been on the horizon since last summer, and from April this year businesses that use a half hourly electricity meter have been obliged to notify the Environment Agency of how much energy they consumed in 2008.

The summer is well and truly here and The Green Blue team is busy planning for the season's events. The August Bank Holiday weekend sees us exhibiting at the Inland Waterways Association Festival at Beale Park on the Thames, swiftly followed by the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2010 where we will be celebrating our 5th Birthday.
