What's going on...
Happy New Year, we hope you
all had a good Christmas break and are looking forward to 2011 and
the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show.
As well as a round up of our autumn
activities, in this winter edition of
e-news we look forward to our plans for the show, including a the
launch of our new publication The Green Marine Wildlife Guide
alongside wildlife talks taking place in the Knowledge Box and on
the RYA Stand (A85).

This year’s Tullett Prebon London Boat Show (07-16 January) see’s
the launch of our brand new publication, The Green Marine
Wildlife Guide, produced in partnership with the Wildlife
Trusts. With top tips for spotting marine life and beautiful
illustrations of basking sharks, dolphins, seals and jellyfish, the
guide will help every boater to identify the marine megafauna of
our seas. And more importantly, it gives useful advice on how to
act when encountering wildlife so that you can avoid disturbance
and play your part in protecting marine biodiversity now and for
future generations.

The Environment Agency (EA) has confirmed the identification of
Dikerogammarus villosus or the ‘killer shrimp’ in two more
locations in the UK; Cardiff Bay and Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir in
Port Talbot.
Given that the killer shrimp has now appeared in Wales, it is
really important that we as boaters do our bit to limit any further
spread around the country.

It seems that just as soon as the London Boat show is over then
spring and the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show (5-6 March) are just around
the corner.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the show and as
always there’s plenty going on for visitors to get excited
about.

After an exciting summer of events The Green Blue is delighted to
announce the winner of our prize draw competition.
David Roy, skipper of yacht Wind Whistler, was the very
happy recipient of this stylish director’s chair which was kindly
provided by Reefer Sails.
David said, “I have never won anything before, this is great! I
can’t wait for some good weather so I can relax in the garden”
